A Culture of Sustainability

A Culture of Sustainability

At Vitro Architectural Glass, we see it as our mission to continually raise the industry standard for sustainability. Vitro was the first U.S. glass manufacturer to have its entire collection of architectural glass products recognized by the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Products Program and the first North American manufacturer to publish third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for flat glass and processed glass products. Additionally, all Vitro architectural glass products meet the Top 20% Low Embodied Carbon (LEC) material Global Warming Potential (GWP) threshold the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) established pursuant to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and related guidance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass – Cleared for Takeoff

BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass – Cleared for Takeoff

Introducing BirdSmart® Bird Safe Glass, Vitro’s first proprietary glass product designed to reduce bird collisions that has received American Bird Conservancy (ABC) tunnel testing approval to comply with existing and emerging building codes. BirdSmart® glass is a first-surface laser-etched glass with a Solarban® low-e coating on the second surface. Manufactured using laser etching, which is a “clean” etching process that is non-caustic and uses no harsh chemicals to apply bird-friendly visual markers, BirdSmart® glass offers a greener way to prevent bird strikes.
