About Fischbacher 1819
fischbacher1819.comIn 1819, Christian Fischbacher, born in 1803 in the village of St. Peterzell in Eastern Switzerland, founded the company at the age of sixteen. The son of a farmer, the young Christian collected cotton fabrics woven by farmers’ wives and traded them at the market in St. Gallen, travelling nearly 30 km on foot to get there. For more than two centuries, Fischbacher 1819 has been at the heart of the textile industry. The family-owned company is a centre for the textile industry since the 13th century.
