About Emeco
Emeco, founded by Wilton C. Dinges in 1944 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, initially focused on crafting lightweight and durable chairs for the U.S. Navy. It was during this time that the iconic Emeco 1006 Navy Chair, also known as the Navy Chair, was conceived by designer Wilfred “Bill” Alpert, tailored for use on naval submarines and battleships. The chair's design was born out of practical necessity, requiring it to be lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and capable of withstanding harsh marine conditions. Each Navy Chair is meticulously handmade by skilled artisans, embodying precision and craftsmanship. Beyond the Navy Chair, Emeco produces a diverse range of furniture, incorporating recycled and recyclable materials, while guaranteeing a lifetime warranty on its products, reinforcing its commitment to quality and longevity.
