Current Lighting Solutions (commonly known as Current) is a U.S.-based company specializing in LED lighting fixtures, lamps, and intelligent lighting and energy management systems designed primarily for commercial, industrial, and outdoor applications.Founded in 2015 by General Electric, Current was initially part of GE’s efforts to push into smart, energy-efficient lighting and control systems. It acquired Daintree Networks (a wireless network / building automation company) to integrate lighting systems with digital networks and controls.In 2018‐19, it was sold by GE to American Industrial Partners, becoming a private company, while retaining strong branding and continuing its focus on sustainable lighting solutions.The company’s product portfolio includes LED lamps, fixtures, outdoor and indoor luminaires, lighting controls, sensors, and software/IoT systems to enable smarter lighting that conserves energy, improves user comfort, safety, and provides operational efficiencies.Their stated mission is to deliver “smart sustainable lighting solutions that create safer, efficient, inspiring environments.”Current operates globally, serving clients in large commercial / industrial settings, institutions, cities, and infrastructure, and is known for integrating lighting hardware with digital networking and control to reduce energy consumption while enhancing lighting quality.
