Atlanta’s Upper Westside, once an industrial hub, is rapidly transforming with *The Works*—an 80-acre mixed-use development blending offices, residences, retail, and dining while preserving its industrial charm. Led by Selig Developments and designed by Smith Dalia Architects, Phase One features a standout parking garage clad in 13,025 sq. ft. of 3mm Alfrex Pre-Finished Solid Aluminum Plate, supplied by Alfrex, LLC and installed by MillerClapperton. The façade’s interplay of color, depth, and light creates striking visuals by day and night. Alfrex Plate, double-coated in custom white and orange, met structural and aesthetic goals while minimizing waste through custom sizing and efficient fabrication. Custom tooling produced 1.5-inch perforations, and 3D folding added dimension without damaging the finish. Unique 1.5-inch Z-Girts, made from the same Alfrex Plate, provided both structural support and seamless design integration. Custom light valences enhanced nighttime illumination, blending function and beauty. Project Architect Nicole Seekely praised the cohesive design, noting the panels’ artistic expression and dynamic shadows. The prefinished Alfrex Plate offered the fabrication ease of MCM while reducing waste and cost. Alfrex, a leader in fire-resistant architectural metal cladding, offers solid plate, FR composite materials, and matching flat sheets. Its parent company, Unience Co., Ltd., founded in 2000, produces specialty fire-resistant coatings and FR core materials. Established in 2008, Alfrex now operates from Buford, Georgia, with advanced MCM production and a branch in Toronto, continuing to innovate in durable, high-performance architectural design.
